MBR membrane bioreactor is a biological reaction system that combines membrane separation technology and bioreactor, which can improve the separation of sludge and water, and the quality of effluent can also reach a high level.
MBR membrane can be mainly divided into hollow fiber and flat sheet membrane. Its function is that water molecules and small molecules can pass through. Still, suspended particles of macromolecules cannot pass through, so the sludge and water separation can be achieved, and the water quality of the effluent is clear.

What are the Advantages of the MBR Membrane?

The water quality after MBR membrane treatment is clear and stable, which can be directly reused. The equipment occupies a small area, has a high volumetric load, a short hydraulic stay time, and a long period of sludge discharge. Under biological autolysis, the amount of sludge will be small, the operation will have low operating costs and low energy consumption, and we can automate it. The structure of MBR membrane equipment is relatively simple, can be integrated assembly to achieve intensive miniaturization and automation, and can be treated on-site, we can directly reuse the water. The MBR membrane process is very different from the traditional method. It replaces the secondary sedimentation tank and the tertiary treatment process in the traditional biochemical treatment process, which greatly improves the solid-liquid separation, effluent quality, and volume load. The water quality standard after MBR membrane treatment is relatively high. After disinfection, it will become high-quality and biologically safe water, which can be directly used.

What is the Service Life of the MBR Membrane?

The service life of MBR membranes varies from material to material, and secondly, it is also related to the operating conditions of the membrane, including influent water quality, backwashing frequency, optimal design of the membrane module, etc. Generally, the service life of the MBR membrane is about 3-5 years. The inner support layer has extremely high tensile strength, and there will be no fiber breakage even under harsh conditions. But one of the most important issues is the need to investigate the peel strength of the membrane fiber, that is, the bonding force between the membrane layer and the support tube. The service life of the membrane material itself determines the service life of the MBR membrane, and the peel strength is also an important factor determining the service life of the MBR membrane.

The above is the information about the advantages of the MBR membrane. If you still have related questions about the membrane bioreactor, please feel free to contact SPERTA.
